Border Morris sides draw their dances from the English-Welsh border counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. These dances were often collected in tantalising glimpses and subsequently a lot of interpretation was injected into them during the revival of the 1970s. Border was considered a mid-winter custom, hence colourful rag coats and disguise. The dance and music is often vigourous and loud! |
